Our shelter thrives on volunteers.  We are an all-volunteer organization!  If you are interested in volunteering your spare time with us we would like to have you commit to staying with us at least 6 months; but once trained you decide what your schedule allows.  Below are our typical needs and requirements.  We need help 7 days a week/365 days a year!  You can be available "on call", or commit to 1 day a week or 1 day a month.  You must be 18 years of age or older.  We love to have children at the shelter but currently do not have enough volunteers to supervise them; if you're child is interested in volunteering at the shelter we ask mom and/or dad be trained and accompany them unless other arrangements have been made with our Volunteer Coordinator.

Morning cat/shelter care:  complete cleaning/disinfecting of each cat's cage including food dishes, litter bowls and bedding; feeding and medicating cats as instructed; monitoring play time of cats; laundry; mopping floors; washing walls; etc.  Time required: 3-4 hours (average from 8am-12pm)

Evening "tuck-in": feeding and medicating cats according to needs; scooping litter boxes; cleaning as needed; play-time, etc.  Time required:  1 - 1.5 hours (flexible time, usually between 4 and 7 pm)

Adoption Counselor: opens the shelter for the public to visit; helps match up prospective adopters with an appropriate cat/kitten; gives basic information about the cats; provides basic care instructions to the public; accepts adoption applications; screens prospective adopters in accordance with written policies & procedures; paperwork as needed to complete the adoption; good communication skills both orally and in writing; currently we are open weekends but if you would commit to a weekday each week that's also a possibility.  Monitors play time of cats. This position requires a commitment of at least one Saturday or Sunday a month, from 12-3pm for open adoptions and this person would also do tuck-in after (total time needed:  4-4.5 hours).  Must have phone and internet/email access.
