Gentle Corey Goes Home
In March of this year, a young tabby and white cat was left at the door of the Shelter. He was in a clean carrier and was in good shape. Someone had taken good care of him, loved him. But for some reason, they could no longer care for him….and wisely, they left him in the Shelter’s care.
Corey was kind of a loner at the Shelter. He would be okay with some of the other cats, but preferred to be out by himself. I think he was just a shy boy, not quite sure how to be with other cats. He liked his own cozy castle rooms. When he ventured out, sometimes other cats would pick on him.
So, it was so sweet when Carew of St. Johnsbury wanted to take Corey home to be her own beautiful boy. Now he is one very lucky boy…he is in a big gorgeous house, with lots of space, lots of levels, lots of windows, and lots of love.
Carew makes sure that Corey has toys to play with and cat grass to chew upon, even though he scatters little blades all over the house.
And Corey gets to cuddle with his own special human, without any worries about other cats bringing on any anxiety. He has found his peaceful, forever home, being the sole recipient of his human’s love.
Carew’s friend, Klari, says that Corey and her little dog, Buddy, get along quite well on their visits.
Thank you, Carew, for giving this sweet boy his perfect forever home!!

Libby In Her Perfect Home
Sweet, sweet Libby…who loves nothing better than to be on her human’s lap…and enjoy endless brushing and petting. All of this will be accompanied by Libby purring away and making biscuits. Everyone at the Shelter loved Libby. Whenever we send a kitty home, we try to let the volunteers know when they are going home, so they can come and say goodbye to their special favorites. Libby had them lining up to say goodbye and give one last cuddle, one last brushing.
Libby was adopted from Kingdom Animal Shelter in May of 2020, at the age of two. She enjoyed several years being doted on and being the apple of her human’s eye….
But sadly, her human became ill and passed away. And Libby came back to the Shelter at the end of April, 2024. Several folks looked at her…but they weren’t quite right for Libby. We try to let the kitties decide on who will be the right human for them.
And then, the Universe provided. Missy and Frank from Enfield, NH, saw Libby on our Facebook page and thought that she would be the perfect new kitty for them.
They had been doting parents recently to a very lucky kitty who then became ill. They did everything they could for her…but the loving thing to do was to let her go.
And then…Libby came into their lives. They proved to be excellent adopters, and so they came to visit Libby. It was love all around. Missy and Frank spent quite some time loving Libby, petting and combing her, and Libby loved it. And so, Libby has gone to her new home, where she will be their precious girl, having her petting and combing and cuddling sessions on the couch, with morning coffee. Or enjoying long naps with her new humans.

This from Libby’s new humans:
When we recently lost our thirteen year old "kitty", there was a large void in our hearts. My husband and I were heartbroken.
We searched local shelters and humane societies to see what cats were available for adoption. After looking in nearby areas, I came upon Kingdom Animal Shelter ! It was there where I spotted Libby. I read her "story" and description of her needs ... a lovable middle-aged female kitty whose ideal home would include being the only pet in a quiet environment with adults.
I remember showing Libby to my husband, and immediately we filled out the adoption papers and expressed our interest in bringing her home !
Crazy to think one could "fall in love with a photo and a brief biography", but we did! Libby came home with us August 25th .
She hid under the bed at first until she was certain she was the only pet in the house. She was kindly sent home with her familiar toys, blanket and brush, which we think helped her come out from hiding. Since being with us for a little over a week , Libby has settled in easily in her permanent home. She began eating and drinking soon after coming out from under the bed, and explored her surroundings .
Libby has found her favorite place to be is ON the bed . She also loves to sit in the perches in the windows ... taking in the fresh air and sunshine. Squirrels are fun to watch, too ! Libby will dart across the bed to catch the activity outside.
Libby's quiet little meows and sweet face fill our lives with joy. We are forever grateful for finding Kingdom Animal Shelter. Their remarkable place for kittens and cats to stay is clean, caring , friendly and professional! Thank you for all you have done with the ease of the adoption process and especially for our dear Libby .

Ozzie and Noah…and Steve: The best of pals
One never knows where one will find a friend. Ozzie and Noah are just such a pair, an odd couple.
Ozzie came from a farm in a neighboring town, a farm that is usually overrun with cats and kittens, who are often not healthy and are challenged. We received a call about three kittens from this farm that were in dire straits. We agreed to take them. One didn’t even make it in transit. The other died on arrival. But Ozzie was a fighter…and with good care from several of our fosters, she finally began to thrive. And what a beautiful girl she was…with those wide stripes typical of a mackerel tabby….and her big, beautiful eyes.
But Ozzie still had one major hurdle. She was having trouble breathing…and therefore, didn’t have the energy to play, to eat well, to engage with those around her. She went to Peak Veterinary Specialists, and there Dr. Benitah performed tests and did a CT scan…and then did surgery on her nasal passages. And low and behold, in this small kitten, she found a large polyp in each nostril, which were removed. The foster reported that when Ozzie got home…you could see her delight and surprise, to finally be able to smell the world around her, to be able to breathe…and play and run. It was a rebirth.
Enter a new chapter in her life. Noah. Noah was a tiny kitten who had been mauled by a dog. He had cracked ribs, contusions on his lungs. He was given a one-in-four chance at survival. But our special foster, Nancy P, gave him loving, tender, skilled care…and Noah made it.
He is now one gorgeous boy…and just one of the sweetest young boys there is, always able to make friends with anyone. And so, being in the same foster home, Ozzie and Noah became fast friends.
Ozzie and Noah caught the eye of Steve from Wells River. He visited the Shelter and spent a long time visiting with many cats…but returned to Ozzie and Noah.
On August 23, Ozzie and Noah went to their forever home with Steve. They are now Olive or Ollie Girl, and Noah Buddy. They have a huge house to roam in, windows to look out of, and even a nice screened in porch.

Sorry, I forgot I said I'd let you know! We are all safe and sound. Noah was a lovebug from the start. Olive had a rough transition, threw up in the carrier, hid at home, but she warmed up after we slept together haha. She started to eat this morning, so all is well. Love how she hisses so softly at Noah sometimes - seems like a part of their game.
Anyhow, we are all very much in love and bonded till death do us part.
They are beautiful beings inside and out - thank you to all of you and especially Nancy, for raising them.
And we're all giving each other lots of slow blinks. : ^ ]

Sept. 1
I have enjoyed this gorgeous day so far, and there's more to come. Been gardening while the girl and boy explore their indoor, forest paradise. No escapes in over a week! Daddy hisses at them at the front door, only, and they stay back.
They have a grand old time. The other night Ollie provoked Noah who was lolling on his back, way back in the back. He flipped over midair, did a skid start and cannoned into the living area most of the way to the front. Made me LOL.
Sept 5
Noah is a total lovebug whom I call my puppycat. Ollie is much more reserved, but still likes to be very close, both out of curiosity and security, though she doesn't like to be petted much, yet, I hope. They have a blast with each other.

Squeaks, helping her human enjoy the night hours!
Oh, how we all love Squeaks. Precious Squeaks came to us when her owner passed away.
She had been adopted from KAS about twelve years ago, probably as a kitten.
When her owner passed away, a relative contacted us and asked if we would take her back into our care, and we said, YES.
She was a bit shy at first…hiding in her carrier, then running to be under the cot in her room. It wasn’t far to go. But ultimately, she began squeaking when folks came into the room. Over time, she would stay out a bit. And finally, she would stay, wanting pets, coming up on the cot, to snuggle with whomever had lain down to visit with her. What a love!! So beautiful, so affectionate, so adorable, so cute.
Nancy M had adopted an elderly girl from us a while ago. This sweet kitty passed away. With time, and healing, Nancy decided she would like to take in another elderly kitty, to give a loving and tender home to one of our senior cats. She visited Squeaks, and it was love all around.
Squeaks went to her new home in August of 2024.
Squeaks, being an elderly girl, took a little while to feel at home again. She is a bit of a night owl, so will want lots of cuddling in the middle of the night. But Nancy and Squeaks are working on it…
This from Nancy about her girl, Squeaks:
Squeaks is doing fine.
She is eating well, drinking well and using the litter box with no problems.
Squeaks does tend to hide most of the day and only comes out at night, when it gets dark.
In the night, Squeaks will come up on the bed and meow for pats. As Nancy does sleep at night (like most of us), she cannot accommodate Squeaks request for attention all night long. At times, Squeaks will lay by Nancy's legs.
Squeaks seems to be getting less skittish as she gets used to her new home.
She came out to the living room recently, came up on the couch, walked on the coffee table and recliner and rubbed her face on all the furniture.
Nancy did have company that left today so it will be interesting to see if there is any difference now with the company gone.
Nancy thinks that Squeaks is making small steps of progress but no major ones.
Nancy reported that Squeaks is very personable when she is in her comfort zone.
Squeaks is affectionate and at times will "collapse onto her side, next to me (Nancy)."
Nancy and Squeaks play a game where Nancy plays with the pads of her feet and Squeaks seems to enjoy that as she reaches her paws out for Nancy to continue.
Nancy does hope that Squeaks will come out more during the day light hours and be more active during the day, as opposed to the night time. Nancy recognizes that Squeaks is shy and Nancy is ok with that but hopes that Squeaks comes out of her shell more and more. Nancy is patient and is willing to give Squeaks more time to adjust to her home.

Flower and Clover, on to their new life with Amanda and Angel!
Flower and Clover were two of five kittens that were brought to the Shelter in April of 2023…in a Kraft Macaroni and Cheese box. They were 3 weeks old.
Of course, our own Nancy P took them in. Much care was needed. Bottle feeding every 2 hours, cleaning up their little messes, tending to any health needs.
But they all pulled through.
And it soon became obvious that Flower and Clover were sisters for life!! With some fits and starts in terms of health, they were finally ready for their new forever home.
Amanda and Angel came to visit the Shelter in late August and took the girls home on August 30. The girls have settled in, enjoying looking out windows, and basking in the love of Amanda and Angel.
This from Nancy R, in talking with Amanda:
"Amanda has texted a few times.
The girls are very affectionate, making biscuits, exploring.
They already ate some food, drank water and have investigated their new litter boxes.
Clover did sneeze and coughed a couple of times when they first got home.
Amanda was concerned.
I said maybe she was overwhelmed with new scents, etc and to keep an eye on her for a couple of hours.
Amanda just texted again and said that Clover had one more small episode of coughing but that was it.
Amanda gave her a bit of a gel called Viralys and will keep an eye on her.
The girls are now napping.
Overall, I think it is a great beginning.
-Nancy"
