Cats and Roses and Bark in the Park Join Forces!!
-Helen Morrison
I don’t think I have ever seen either Cats and Roses, or the Pet Parade/Bark in the Park be “rained on”. But this year, there was rain…and lots of it. As you may know, the Pet Parade didn’t happen. And so, we decided to combine Cats and Roses with our Bark in the Park tennis ball event. And as you also know, the weather and climate have been quite odd and unpredictable.
But our supporters and volunteers are deterred by naught. They were out in full force, laughing, smiling, joking, having a good time….even though most everything and everyone was soaked.
All the fabulous baked goods were safe under cover and gone a bit after noon time.
People browsed the Yard Sale items…on Saturday and Sunday…and even Monday…until most everything was gone.
And at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jess Buxton’s sweet black lab, Sadie, did her thing in picking the Bark in the Park winners. She had a bit over 700 balls to choose from…and did a fun and noble job…even though there were so many to choose from.
One person won $500, two won $100, and two won $50. And two other lucky winners won a basket of dog treats and a basket of cat goodies.
All in all…a very fun, though wet time. Smiles through the raindrops, for sure!!
