Teagan
This winter was the winter of Siamese cats at Kingdom Animal Shelter. Three of these blue-eyed beauties came to us within a short time span, and they were adopted to wonderful homes in February. Teagan was one of them.
In January, the Lyndon Dog Pound contacted KAS about a 1-year-old, pure-bred Blue Point Siamese who was surrendered after her elderly owner went into a nursing home. We took the cat in the beginning of February as soon as a space opened at the Shelter.
Teagan was a lovely young female. Like a true princess she was a social eater with a refined taste for Salmon Pâté.
Within three weeks, Teagan was adopted by Larry and Martha from Duxbury, VT. The couple had stopped by on a Saturday, hoping to visit Paris. But little Paris was in the process of being adopted. The couple was introduced to Teagan instead and had a delightful first meeting.
Larry and Martha already had a young Siamese cat named Molly. She had been rescued by their nephew, who was a deep woods hiker. One day he found a kitten abandoned on a trail in Oregon in the middle of nowhere. He carried her in his backpack to safety and called his uncle Larry, asking if they wanted to adopt her. Larry said yes and Molly was flown to her new home in Vermont.
Larry and Martha hoped that Molly and Teagan would become good friends. Teagan joined the family on February 22nd.

I spoke to Larry this afternoon. Things are going pretty well. Larry said that Teagan did not like the drive but that she calmed down whenever the car stopped. They were able to bring Teagan into the house and upstairs to her safe room without Molly realizing.
But Molly figured out quickly that there was a newcomer in the house and was very curious about Teagan. Teagan was staying in her safe room, and her new people were spending a lot of time with her. Teagan was welcoming head scratches and was purring. She was eating very well, used the litter box and played with a wand toy. Larry slept in the safe room with Teagan, so that she didn't feel abandoned. Larry said they were absolutely happy with her -- a great first 24 hours.

For the first six days Teagan stayed in her safe room. There was minimal contact between Teagan and Molly. Larry and Martha beautifully followed the cat introduction guidelines that they had received from KAS to allow the cats to get used to each other slowly. They did scent exchanges by swapping the cats’ bedding, and room exchanges by letting the kitties separately explore each other’s spaces. They added pheromone diffusers in the house and thought it was helpful. They were happy with how things were going. Teagan was affectionate and enjoyed brushing.
After a week, Teagan went to the vet for her second distemper vaccine. She did well and was considered to be in great shape.
After Teagan had been home for almost two weeks, there had been a few hisses from Molly but nothing serious. Teagan had settled in and enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels from the windows and on vide devices. She was eating well, using the litter boxes with no issues, and was affectionate with her family. She was playful and particularly enjoyed a wand toy, chasing balls, and playing with a battery-operated toy ball with a tail.

Larry and Martha felt that Molly needed a bit more time to adjust to having a new cat in the home. They hoped that over time the cats would be more tolerant of each other, if not best buddies. They were absolutely happy with Teagan. They thought she was quite a character and just great.
Update on March 15th: Great progress, Teagan and Molly were on the bed together!

Paris
Paris is a sweet 1-year-old kitty with the handsome markings of a Seal Tortie Point Siamese with blue eyes.
As a stray kitten, Paris showed up at a house and was taken in by the family. Paris became very nervous and unhappy around the young children and family dogs. She couldn’t get used to the home, acted out, and was finally surrendered to Kingdom Animal Shelter.
In the calm environment of the Shelter, Paris proved to be gentle and good. She liked to snooze in her comfortable cat cave but would come out quickly for pets and attention when people were around.
Because Paris was a little skittish, we felt she might be happiest as the only pet in a peaceful home with quiet people who would give her lots of attention.

She was adopted on February 17th by Debra and Dennis from Concord, VT.
Debra had visited the Shelter multiple times in the past until she saw Paris and sensed that she might be the right cat for them. Paris immediately felt drawn to the couple. She lounged on Dennis' lap and played with Debra. We knew that Paris would be happy to have two doting people all on her own in their quiet, 2-storey house with an enclosed porch. Debra was retired and looking forward to spending lots of time with her feline companion.
Adoption counselor Nancy commented "Paris will think she went to heaven!"
On March 12th Debra wrote:
“Paris is doing very well. She loves to play and literally ‘gallops’ through the house. She is eating very well and sleeps with us every night. Recently she has been enjoying the screened-in porch -- that is when she comes inside and gallops throughout the whole house, so funny! We love her. She is a sweet gentle girl and appears to be very happy and content.”

Luca
Luca is a friendly 6-year-old Flame Point Siamese, very handsome with funny, crossed, blue eyes. He had been left behind at a friend’s house, but his owner never came back for him. A child in the household was allergic to cats and Luca couldn’t stay there any longer. He was surrendered to the Shelter and came highly recommended as the ideal cat: social, charming and well-behaved.
Like many Siamese cats he was quite chatty. At the Shelter, he would tell us at length about his wishes for company and food. Luca was housed in a spacious office room and had a lot of suggestions about how to do things properly. He curled up on every willing lap and was always sad to be left alone at the end of the day. He was such a sweet, endearing boy.

Luca was adopted on February 8th by Ashley and her family from Lyndonville, VT. To his great delight, Luca joined a lively home with two adults, two children and a young, friendly dog.
On February 10th, adoption counselor Rod sent an update to the Shelter volunteers: “Good Morning all, Luca has settled right in his new home. Ashley, his new mom, says that it seemed like he had always been there, although it had only been one day. The kids are in love with him already and all is well with eating and the litter box. He is a happy boy!”
On March 20th Ashley wrote:
"Luca is doing so great ❤️ He immediately became a member of the family and it's hard to remember a time without him. He loves all of us and snuggles day and night with different individuals. He's super patient with the kids and our pup, and loves getting face kisses!
He communicates with different meows and purrs for different things he wants throughout the day, and lives for getting his wet food day and night -- he's even tried to trick us a few times (example: my husband already fed him wet food but Luca's telling me he hasn't had it yet lol!).
We're so grateful to have him, and are incredibly grateful for everyone at KAS who helped make this adoption possible"

Juliet
In January, a newly arrived Shelter cat named Magog walked out of an unsecured back door and disappeared into the night. In a two-week-long intensive search for him we found out that there were several cats roaming the area despite the bitter cold. The cats took advantage of the enticing meals set out for our escape artist. Some of the diners might have been adventurous house cats. But others were homeless and fending for themselves. Thanks to Magog’s adventure, we were able to help these cats.
Magog was finally discovered and returned to safety. But in setting traps, we caught one particular tortoiseshell girl three times! She was beautiful. Our trapper Nancy decided on the third catch to take her in and to name her Juliet.
Juliet was so sweet and happy to be safe and warm. She got spayed and vaccinated and ready to find her forever home. She was a little shy and scared of hands, but she learned to trust her caretakers within a short time.

A family from Derby Line, VT, visited Juliet during adoption hours and fell in love with her peaceful and sweet personality. They applied and adopted Juliet on February 25th.
On February 26th Juliet’s new family wrote:
“Juliet is slowly but surely adjusting to her new environment. Her safe space right now is under the bed, but she’s been coming out more and letting us pet her. She rubs on us and purrs very loudly! She’s also starting to explore; she’s even been hopping up on the bed.
She’s still easily startled, and any sudden noise sends her right back to her cozy spot under the bed. But she is eating well. She’ll come out when we’re nearby, though she prefers to stay hidden when we’re preparing dinner or hanging out in the living room.
This morning, the catnip made her super playful, and she’s been enjoying her toys. We adore her! She’s such a sweet baby girl 💕🐾”

She is definitely adapting to her environment and spending a lot more time in the common areas and with us. She follows us everywhere which is so adorable ♥️ Lots of purring! She gets the zoomies around 8PM every day and goes crazy around the house, the cutest! She also loves to jump on the counter when we’re preparing her food and sneaks in a couple of licks straight from the can, ha hah! We love her ♥️”

Tiger & Princess
In September, a pregnant stray named Mama was trapped in a neighborhood in town and was placed into foster care. Within a few days she gave birth to four lovely tabby kittens.
Tiger and his sister Princess were affectionate and closely bonded as they grew up. Tiger was quick to come to his foster mom to ask for pets, but he would walk away after a short cuddle to look for adventures. Princess was a gentle little soul. She liked to sit next to her foster mom and wait for attention. She shied away from loud noises and quick movements. Her meows were very softcompared to her brother's. Princess and Tiger happily played at full force, but Princess was otherwise a little more quiet and subtle.

These beautiful kittens caught the eye of Angela from Milan, NH.
Angela, her husband Patrick and their adult son Marshall were all dedicated cat people. They were looking for young feline friends for their family and their cat Simba, whose best buddy had passed away in fall. Simba was a happy and very spoiled little guy. But lately, Simba had been asking more urgently for new furry playmates.
We felt that Simba would be a nice big brother for the kittens after proper introductions. The family adopted Tiger and Princess on February 5th and brought them home to their cozy house.
Angela texted on February 6th:
"Tiger and Princess are settling in well. They had a good night sleep at my feet. They have been eating, playing and investigating their new home. Simba is curious and interested in them. They both like the fish tank and Princess likes playing in the cat tunnel. They seem very comfortable already. We all love them; they are so adorable and loving 😍. Thank you so much again. "
