Fund Raisers, Fun Raisers, Friend Raisers
-Helen Morrison, Board President
I know we are all familiar with Fundraisers. Most organizations have them. It is what helps them keep ticking along.
But it has been fun to begin to realize that these events that Kingdom Animal Shelter puts on are also Fun Raisers…and Friend Raisers. Sometimes, they don’t bring in a great deal of money. And in many respects, that isn’t really the goal. The goal is more to offer something fun to the Community ... .something tasty, perhaps, something entertaining, a chance to gather and just hang out together and share stories.
Such was our spaghetti dinner on Oct. 19….a Fun Raiser, a Friend Raiser. I would say that, with folks coming to purchase dinners, and some youngsters who merited free dinners, and a number of volunteers, I bet we served about 100 people in the basement of the United Community Church in St. Johnsbury.
The spaghetti and sauce and meatballs were totally scrumptious. The desserts were homemade and to die for. And the 16 raffle items…very enticing to our dinner goers.
It just all had a joyous air to it.
So, yes…a Fundraiser. But also a Fun Raiser and a Friend Raiser.
Join us in February for our Valentine’s Spaghetti Dinner.
