A Letter from Molly

August 2026

Dear “Miss Nancy” and my Friends at KAS,

It’s me.  Molly.   I have lived with my Mama and Papa in Brookfield for one year and they treat me like a princess.    I have them well trained now so I don’t have to work as hard at letting them know what I want.

I won’t say that I am a member of the family, as my ranking of Princess, as anyone knows, is higher than that of a household member.

I like my house.  It has a screened-in porch where I can watch my Papa working in his garden and be with Mama while she reads in her rocking chair. There are also lots of windows for me to sit in and glass doors so I can see out.   I have assigned different jobs and activities to Mama and Papa.  Every morning Papa and I discuss world affairs, the stock market and the price of Blue Buffalo Natural cat food. I have a whip with a bird on the end of a leather strip. I follow Papa upstairs and down, dragging my whip with me until he stops what he is doing and plays with me.  It is so much fun, and I can jump really high. Mama says this photo isn’t very clear, but I said anybody could see that I am going to catch the bird so that is what is important.  I like to show off my skills.

Mama has different assignments.  She gives me my treats.  Sometimes I have to beg if she is busy with her computer.  I am also a little sneaky, because if Papa doesn’t see Mama giving me treats, I will beg from him as well. Mama thinks it is so cute when I beg that I do it as often as I can.
I help Mama as well.  When she is working on a puzzle, I offer her my advice on which piece to put in next.  She thinks I am very helpful.

My Mama loves Christmas and as you can see, I was part of the decorations.  My big sister, Carrie, says the picture should be named, “Angel, Angel, Gargoyle!”  But I don’t know what that means.  I was such a pest crawling around under the family Christmas table, they finally pulled up a chair so I could sit at the table with them.

My Mama says I follow her around like a puppy, but I just like to be where she is, and I am happiest when both of them are in the same room.  Thanks to all of you who took care of me at KAS, but I am happy here so I think I will stay.

Paws of love,
Molly Lord
