Lilah: Our Shelter Matriarch
-Helen Morrison
You could experience nothing more wonderful than having Lilah following you around, rubbing up against your legs, gustily eating the delicious meal you place before her, hearing her deep purr upon being stroked. This sweet 13 year old girl came to us in February of 2020. She had a very rough beginning, with an awful infection that our vet, Melora Hunt, ultimately got cleared up…and then having a neurological reaction to an anesthetic for dental surgery that nearly left her completely paralyzed. With time and patience, Lilah gained back her motor skills. You can see hints of this event in her walk, which is slightly lopsided, and in the tilt of her head. But she is not daunted or impaired by any of it. She wants to make sure she is everywhere you are. She does love a nice, soft warm bed to sleep on. And she is deaf, so she needs to know you are there, by a gentle touch, if she is in the middle of a nap.
She was in foster with a vet tech who absolutely adored having her. But the vet tech’s living situation changed, and it became too busy a household for Lilah. So, she is with us in the Shelter, and seems to be enjoying every minute. She does love to play with little stuffed toy mice.
We would love to find her a quiet home with a person who is home much of the time…and can give her the gentle comfort of a simple, loving home, where she is the only pet.
