Thank you to volunteers:
This year, 2024, the first week of November will be Shelter Volunteer Appreciation Week. We thought we would get a jump start on thanking our incredible, giving, loving Kingdom Animal Shelter volunteers!!
For the past 12 years, I have been honored to give the Thanksgiving greeting from the Board and thank all our volunteers for their hard work. While Thanksgiving is a good time to reflect and give thanks to the volunteers, they are hard-working all year long and so much appreciated.
Our volunteer picnic was held for many years in September at Gail and David Hare's beautiful gardens in Danville. After that, it was held in my Rose Garden on Cliff St. in St. Johnsbury. These were great times to get together, see each other, and catch up. Many of our shifts are either alone or with a small group and we don't sometimes realize how many of us there really are. There are many who work behind the scenes and deserve our thanks as well. These picnics were a great time to get together to celebrate everybody.
Last year, we gathered at Estella's in Lyndonville due to the wet weather that has now continued into this year. We are planning on meeting there again this year for some good food and fun.
Our volunteers are the backbone of KAS. Each volunteer is very dedicated to the cats and helping to keep them fed, healthy, and happy. Over the years, we have had volunteers who have come for many years, some with family members, and were here as their kids grew up in the KAS family.
Volunteering is so rewarding in so many ways. It keeps people involved in their communities, helps with a great cause, and volunteers at KAS get the satisfaction of hearing about each cat adopted to their new home and the start of their new lives.
With busy lives and so many other obligations on people's time, we are so grateful that you have chosen to give some of your time to KAS and have become a part of the KAS family.
Thanks for all you do for KAS and the cats.
