Welcome to the Kingdom Animal Shelter |
Who we are: Kingdom Animal Shelter is an all-volunteer 501[c]3 organization. Our goal has been to build a shelter in the St. Johnsbury-area. We are also a member of the new state-wide animal cruelty response system.
What are we doing? We have been holding several major fundraisers each year. The past several years we’ve held an annual Golf Tournament and FurBall. We have a table annually at Danville’s “Autumn on the Green Festival” the first Sunday in October. We have had a table at the Huneck’s annual Dog Party at Dog Mountain. We have a great new web site, and a voice mailbox for people to call to leave messages if they are looking to adopt a pet, surrender a cat or just general information on animal care and local resources.
We opened a cat adoption center on June 30th, 2008 at Morrisons Feed Bag, 1186 Memorial Dr., St. Johnsbury. Currently, we can only take adoptable cats in our adoption program but we can help act as a resource to help you locate a dog breed rescue, or an animal shelter/humane society/rescue in the state that may be able to assist you.
We rely solely on donations to pay for the cat’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter and vaccinating before the cat is placed for adoption.
We sponsored a reduced cost spay/neuter clinic on September 17th at the Kingdom Canine Center in Lyndonville. We spayed/neutered 26 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. We are planning to hold at least two more clinics in 2009
Until there are none: We will continue to raise funds with the ultimate goal of building a much needed shelter; but in the meantime we will also look for ways to help our local animals in need. Other shelters in the state that have been holding spay/neuter clinics are reporting the numbers of stray/homeless animals dropping. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if one day there were no animals sitting in shelters, and instead there was a waiting list of people looking to adopt a pet?
How you can help: Because we are all-volunteer there are no paid staff. All proceeds from donations, sale of merchandise, etc go directly to our programs. You can sponsor a cat at the adoption center by donating on-line, or through the mail. A donation in any amount towards the cat adoption program, spay/neuter clinic or building fund is always greatly appreciated! |
