A Bengal Love Story

A Bengal Love Story

by Julia Persch

Do you remember Marvel, now Mara, the Bengal?
This young girl was our pure-bred show star of the summer and attracted a lot of attention from far and wide. People from the Southern states wanted to come all the way up to Vermont to adopt her in the midst of a raging pandemic, but Mara found her perfect loving home with Kristi's family in MA.

On January 18th Kristi wrote:

I hope that everyone had great holidays and a good start to the new year!

Mara is doing extremely well, and she enjoyed her first Christmas with us (and all of her presents).  She has truly become my best little buddy now as she follows me around, and she sleeps with Chris and me, Oreo and Buster every night (Sammi and Rory prefer their own dog beds on the ground, haha).
She enjoys being held now and definitely cuddles a lot more!

At any given time, you can find her chasing her balls with bells in them up and down the hallway, playing with the dogs and dog toys or chewing her cat toys.   Because she tended to eat stringy things, we ended up getting her dental 'mesh' type cat toys that are safe for cats to chew on. Mara also enjoys a moving fish toy that we got her, and she goes crazy for it.

She also loves chasing lights (reflections, lasers etc.) which she and Rory have in common- we find them staring and chasing the lights together a lot. People are shocked to see a cat and a German Shepherd playing together- but they certainly do love it!

Mara still loves her catio- even in the snow! So we have had to close it on snowy days or else she would try to be out there all day!

Healthwise she is doing excellent- no diarrhea, my vets still have not heard a heart murmur and she is at the perfect weight and is completely healthy! We do give her a probiotic every day to make sure her digestive system is in the best of shape though!

We got our kitties a water fountain, a cat food 'tree' to make dry food eating an activity.
And for Christmas (along with catnip and Buster & Mara's favorite toys) Chris and I got a litter robot! Mara actually loves watching it and I'm pretty sure she thinks it's a new toy, but both cats have done very well with it.

Thank you so much for allowing this perfect little girl into our lives! She is the absolute best!
