Volunteer
Our shelter thrives on volunteers. We are an all-volunteer organization! If you are interested in volunteering your spare time with us we would like to have you commit to staying with us at least 6 months, but once trained you decide what your schedule allows. Below are our typical needs and requirements. We need help 7 days a week/365 days a year! You can be available “on call”, or commit to 1 day a week or 1 day a month. You must be 18 years of age or older, unless you have a parent or guardian volunteering with you. We love to have children at the shelter but currently do not have enough volunteers to supervise them; if your child is interested in volunteering at the shelter we ask that an adult they know be trained and accompany them unless other arrangements have been made with our Volunteer Coordinator.

Morning Cat/Shelter Care:
The morning shift volunteers clean each cat’s cage including food dishes, litter boxes, and bedding. They feed and medicate cats as instructed and monitor play time of cats. The volunteers also do general cleaning such as laundry, clean the floors, and wash walls, etc.
Time required: 3 - 4 hours or as needed (average from 7:30 AM - 11 AM)
Evening “Tuck-in”:
The tuck-in shift volunteers feed and give medication to cats according to their needs. They scoop litter boxes and clean as needed. The volunteers also monitor play time.
Time required: 1.5 hours or as needed (flexible time, usually between 5 PM and 7:30 PM)
Adoption Shift:
Adoption shift volunteers open the shelter for the public to visit and help match up prospective adopters with their newest companion. They provide information on cats, the adoption process, volunteering, and give out adoption or volunteer applications. They also monitor play time and get to know the cats. Good communication skills are needed.
Currently we are open most of the week and have open spots for adoption shift volunteers throughout the week.
Adoption Counselor:
Adoption counselors have the same duties as an adoption shift volunteer, but they also screen prospective adopters in accordance with written policies & procedures, fill out paperwork as needed, and finalize the adoption.
Good communication skills, both orally and in writing, are needed.
