We are so grateful to all those who have donated so far to our annual Chucky Fund/General Fund appeals. We have had a heart-warming response. If you haven’t done so already, but wish to donate, here is the letter that will give you more information about the appeal….as well as the link to donate online, if you so choose.

Dear Friend of Kingdom Animal Shelter,
This year, 2020, has certainly been one to remember. It has had its challenges, for sure, its sadnesses, its losses. But it has also had some silver linings...touching base with family in deeper ways, figuring new ways to be with friends that still keep everyone safe. At the Shelter, we have found a lot of joy in working through to new ways to help cats that are in trouble find loving, long-lasting homes. We are on track to have over 100 adoptions by the end of the year...which is quite amazing, considering these trying times and that we were closed for a significant period of time.
This past Spring, we decided not to do our annual appeals letter for our Emergency Chucky Fund. We felt that folks were already dealing with a lot…. financial challenges, trying to figure out their new “normal”. But here we are in the Fall of 2020….and we have decided that it would be prudent to reach out to our donors and supporters. We are doing this on two fronts this Fall. We are asking you to consider donating to our General Operating Fund, which helps with the daily care of our sweet cats and the maintenance of our wonderful new building. But we are also asking you to consider donating in part to our Emergency Chucky Fund, which helps us save those cats that come to us with serious issues and get them back to health and find them good homes. Other Shelters would probably turn them away.
I would like to introduce you to several of our kitties whom the General Fund supports.
Hazel is a gentle soul. She is a one year old and sweetly engaging in a shy way, asking to be petted with a beautiful expressive demeanor. Her coloring is quite unusual, with light and dark browns and orange hues which give her a warm glow. Still quite a kitten herself, she came to us as a stray with a litter of 3 babies who all went to loving homes. Now it is Hazel's turn.
Fitz, Vera, Veda, and Margo came to us at 10 days old. Because their mother had been killed, they were in need of bottle feeding every two hours by one of our volunteers. These girls are now almost 12 weeks old, well socialized, bundles of energy and love, and all on their way to their new forever homes.
And we have a special boy to introduce you to who is being cared for with the help of our Chucky Fund.
His name is Earl. He is beyond 15 years old. He was found hanging around a restaurant up near the Canadian border. He weighed less than 5 pounds, and he was literally skin and bones. He had so many things challenging his well-being…. a nasty intestinal pathogen, an over-active thyroid, a lack of B-12...but an incredible will to live and a wonderful and engaging sense of being. Western Avenue Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Hunt worked hard to save him. He was with them for more than a month, with all sorts of tests and treatments and care, getting to a state where he could come to the Shelter. At the Shelter, a certain volunteer and Board member has taken him under her wing, and he is slowly gaining weight and confidence. And even with his slightly shaky walk, he loves to come out into the main area and visit with volunteers and other cats. Earl has been to Peak Veterinary Specialists in Burlington, where he received ultrasounds and diagnoses, and new special compounded medicines to help him further his way to health. As the Peak Internal Medicine doctor said, he is “a work in progress”, a work that would not be possible without the Chucky Fund. The Chucky Fund is the reason we are able to help this very sweet, deserving boy.
We hope you are able to support us in this way. But if you are not able at this time, we know that you are sending us and the kitties your love and support.
Thank you, from all of us at Kingdom Animal Shelter, humans and felines alike….and especially Zander, who sends his best wishes.
