Christmas in June at Cats and Roses

As with all of the KAS yard sales both at Butler's Bus Service and Cats and Roses, many Christmas items are donated. Ornaments, Christmas statues, tree stands, and Happy Holidays items typically fill several tables. Well, it was pretty appropriate this year given the cold and windy weather! The day started with a cold drizzle and then the wind picked up with temps in the 40's for a good part of the day. Many of us volunteers had winter coats on, not what you would think of a garden and yard sale event in June! Sunday was somewhat better, still winter coats on but at least there was some sunshine.
In spite of the weather, we had another excellent turnout! The yard sale was well attended and some still came for the rose garden tour. There were tons of stuff donated, a huge outpouring of support for KAS while at the same time allowing a place for people to donate items from Spring cleaning.
The quirky Spring weather going back and forth from hot and cold did affect the roses. The rugosa roses were all in full bloom, but the hybrid teas were behind and just blooming now. It was a fantastic display of floral beauty with many 1000's of blooms during the event.
Many thanks to the volunteers that normally sign back up each year to help with this event. Much appreciation also for the crowd of people that come each year to tour the rose gardens and shop for goodies, making the event a success again this year!
Looking forward to seeing everybody again at Cats and Roses in 2023!
