Community
-Helen Morrison, Board president
Human beings seem to have a “community” gene, a wish to belong to a group where they feel accepted and needed, where they feel they can contribute to the well-being of the group, where they can look after each other. In the best sense of the word, the sum is greater than the individuals, and the strength of that community contributes to the greater goodness. We all know how good it makes us feel when we tend to each other, when the community benefits from its parts.
Our Kingdom Animal Shelter community has a bit of a challenge ahead. One of our volunteers has had a life-changing health event and her six cats are in need of new homes. She cannot tend to them anymore. It must be heart-breaking for her. One has gone to live with her sister.
We are beginning the process of finding loving, caring homes for the remaining five.

Sarah
Sarah is a beautiful all black feline girl, very playful, engaging, loving, affectionate. She is about five years old and was adopted from KAS. She would be fine as an only cat or with other cats. She has an assured personality, but is easy going. She loves to be petted...and talked to...and then will wander off to tend to her own interests.

Anakin
Anakin is an all black two year old feline boy. He is playful, funny, a bit mischievous but not in any bad way. He is quite humorous and makes one laugh. He loves to interact with humans. He would probably do best with a feline playmate, introduced properly, of course. He was adopted from KAS.

Earl
Earl is about 18 years old. He was found as a stray near a restaurant in Derby Line and was taken into KAS care. At the time, he weighed 4 pounds and had numerous issues...parasites, digestive issues, hyperthyroid. He now weighs over 7 pounds...and looks just wonderful. We have a foster for him with one of our Board members.

Dominic
Dominic is a gorgeous six year old long haired boy, black with a white face and paws. He is quite shy and will need a quiet, patient loving home, probably as an only cat. His true love was our volunteer who is now unable to care for him….so he will need someone patient enough and loving enough for him to trust and transfer his affections over to. He is FIV+. He was adopted from KAS.

Scooter Midnight
And last but totally not least is Scooter Midnight. Scooter is probably 15 years old or older. She is petite, all black, with a white patch on her chest and an adorable single white whisker. She is very affectionate and just wants to cuddle and be loved. She especially likes sleeping with and napping with her human. She gives little love nips at first...which are just cute….and then settles in, nestled against her human’s warmth. Scooter was not adopted from KAS but we are taking her in. We are looking for an adopter or foster for her, a quiet place, no other pets, where she can be doted on. KAS will provide all necessary food, litter, medical care, if need be.
If you can help us with any of these very precious kitties or you know someone who could, please let us know at [email protected]. We want the very best for these five whose life has now been up-ended.
Thank you.
