The First Baby of the New Year
-Helen Morrison, Board President

I have always loved looking at the newspapers right after the New Year and seeing the very first baby born in the New Year. It always brings a smile.  It brings a feeling of hope and joy and promise.

It is a little bit the same with the New Year at the Shelter.
And so, though he is not the first kitty born in the New Year, nor the first kitty of the year to be taken in by KAS, Simon is the first Kingdom Animal Shelter cat to go to his forever home in 2023.  What a lucky boy!!  His home with Kendra Brazeau and family is a dream come true…for Simon and for the family.  Kendra and husband, James, have a beautiful big house, full of windows and a solarium.  And they have a four year old son who adores cats.  The highlight of any trip to town for this young feline admirer is to go visit the store kitty at Aubuchon Hardware.  He and his two year old sister are ecstatic over having their new house friend.  And Simon is the perfect addition.  He is a gorgeous, friendly caramel tabby….two years old.  And so personable and engaging with his humans.  He just loves to snuggle.  He could snuggle most of the day…with a healthy amount of play time in between.

Here are some updates from Kendra.  Simon went home, late afternoon, on Jan. 3, 2023:

Jan. 4  “ He really is quite relaxed! Lots of purring and snuggling. He is eating well and doing fine with his pills. I cannot get over how friendly he is. I just cannot get over the snuggles. He is in my lap as I write this. Thank you again for everything.”

Jan. 6 “ We are so happy we adopted Simon from KAS!  Even though we’ve only had him for a few days, he has already brought so much joy to our lives. He is the most affectionate, snuggly cat I’ve ever met! He purrs nonstop and loves to jump into our laps. He is adjusting very well to our new home and enjoying exploring! He’s been very patient with our children, who are very excited about him.

The team at KAS was wonderful, and they clearly care very much about their cats. We can’t thank them enough for bringing this little purr machine into our lives.”

And we cannot thank you enough, Kendra and family, for giving this sweet, deserving boy the best home ever!
