Our New Arrivals: The Exuberant Eight
-Helen Morrison

Since they were 3 weeks old, our seasoned foster, Nancy Pellegrino, has tended to the Exuberant Eight……eight kittens that came from different situations but have made a family unit.  Five (Gemma, Midge, Flower, Clover, and Angel) all arrived at the Shelter doorstep at 3 weeks old…and needed bottle feeding.  Gracie, being the same age, but coming from a different place under a porch, was added to the group immediately.  Then Ozzie came along from yet another situation…a barn overrun with sick kittens.  Ozzie struggled for quite a while with difficulty breathing, but she went to visit Dr. Benitah at Peak Veterinary Specialists in Burlington.  There she had two significant nasal polyps removed and now she is right as rain…she can breathe again and can smell and can run and play with the rest of her buddies.  Noah is about half the size of his “sisters”.  He was found by Nancy P, having been attacked by a dog.  Littleton Emergency gave him a one in four chance of survival.  But with Nancy’s excellent care and Dr. Sally’s expertise, Noah is just fine now.  He especially enjoys the company of Ozzie…but is constantly being bathed by all his “sisters”.  Quite recently, they all came into the Shelter and are frolicking in the Castle Area, where they have it entirely to themselves.
