Senior Living Suite Renovations
-Nancy Rivet, Board Vice-President
Many thanks to the Loconti Foundation!
As Kingdom Animal Shelter is one of the few shelters that will happily accept senior cats for placement, our volunteers have a large room that we lovingly refer to as the Senior Suite.
The Senior Suite needed a bit of work to make it as comfortable as can be while our seniors await their forever home. So, several Board Members worked together and wrote a grant to fund a project to make improvements in the shelter with a focus on our Senior Suite. The grant was funded with a generous award by the Loconti Family Foundation.
Kingdom Animal Shelter has hired Dana Young Construction to do the work on the shelter. We have used Dana before for the initial renovations of the Shelter in 2018 and Dana and his crew have proven to be reliable and skilled workers.
Work on the shelter began March 6.
We do expect that there will be a bit more chaos than normal around our shelter but we expect that the work will be completed by mid-late March.
The work will center around the Senior Suite, the X-ray room, and the back area of the shelter. Windows will be replaced, old air conditioner units will be removed, and ceiling tiles will be replaced. Paint and cat friendly shelves, towers, and furniture will finish off our plan.
We are so excited about this project reaching its final stages for our seniors to enjoy a bow window, natural light and some comforts of home, while they await their furever families.
