Thankful to our Shelter Community
-a letter from Rod Lauman
Well, 2020 has been quite a year for everybody. While KAS has had many changes due to the virus like the rest of the world, we have been able to continue our mission of getting cats and kittens into wonderful homes.
There are things to be thankful for even in this very strange and difficult year. A huge thank you to all the foster families that stepped forward last Spring and took cats and kittens into their homes. We are thankful that we were able to get our parking lot completed even with a few glitches. As you have probably seen, it looks wonderful and will be so much more functional for decades to come.
We are thankful for the volunteers that came in and have continued coming in to tend to the cats during morning duty and tuck in. Through modern technology, we are able to continue adoptions via Zoom meetings with prospective families and our hard working adoption counselors.
We are thankful to our vet offices that serve us who have continued to see our cats even though they have had Covid related issues of their own. They also have been super busy and ownership changes and vet retirements have created many challenges. Not being able to have the public in their offices and parking lot meetings instead slows things down. Even so, our cats do get seen and things keep moving forward.
We are thankful for all the things that happen behind the scenes all the time that keep us functioning. Writing thank you notes, working on financials, help with socializing the cats, updating our website and Facebook page are just a few of things that have to happen all year long.
A huge shout-out and thank you is in order also to our many donors! People giving to the Appeals letter, patronizing in our various events: Butler's yard sales, Cats and Roses and Calendar sales to name a few is the financial lifeblood of our organization.
The Board of Directors wants to wish everybody in the KAS family a very Happy Thanksgiving and many hopes for better times to come.
