Volunteer Spotlight - Linda
Linda began volunteering at Kingdom Animal Shelter around 3 years ago. She is a fabulous
addition to our KAS Volunteer Family. She comes in for morning duty on Mondays and Fridays,
but also steps up regularly if we need a fill-in for someone who is out. She regularly spends 8-
10 hours a week. And she gets involved with bake sales and yard sales and almost anything
that needs doing. I am not sure what we would do without her. She was looking for a shelter at
which to volunteer. Dr. Rob Hoppe suggested KAS...and we have been grateful ever since.
Linda loves working at the shelter, interacting with the cats. And she enjoys all the volunteers
she has worked with. Among the present feline residents, Linda is especially fond of Kermit,
our elderly Siamese boy who happens to be in a tuxedo cat suit.

Linda has a number of cats and dogs within her own pet family. Recently she adopted two KAS kittens, all-black Beauregard, and our very sweet tabby blind kitten, Sebastian. Linda is amazed at how well Sebastian manages. He races around with his brother, Beau, climbs, jumps down, and plays will all sorts of toys. He always knows where Beau is and follows him. And he knows where all his toys are. Sebastian was born with no pupils and with totally detached retinas. And yet, it is as if he can see perfectly.
Both boys are total snuggly loves. Sebastian is a apparently the “mama’s boy”, however. Linda has quite a history with animals, animal care, and animal rescue. She ran a cat shelter out of her home, Animal House, and placed 200 cats in their forever homes. They all had names, birthdays, were spayed/neutered, de wormed, had their shots. It is a tough thing to do alone, on one’s own money...and ultimately became too expensive. Linda also assisted with several area vets...Dr. Shannon and Dr. Erb. She would help as a surgical nurse and as an anesthetist, as well as tending to exercising and grooming. In addition, she has her own grooming business. And to top it all off, she was a high school science teacher for five years and a para for fifteen years. She is one very busy and committed lady.
Over the years, Linda has had 8 special needs kitties. She is drawn to helping those animals
that have a challenge. So, we knew when Sebastian came along, that we might find just the
right home for him with Linda. And it is perfect. Sebastian and his brother, Beau, are in
heaven, well-loved, having a life full of adventure, able to go outside in a protected and
monitored area. They apparently both love to play in the snow.
Thank you, Linda, for all that you do for the Shelter and all that you have done for animals in need over the years.
