October Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa, Gabby, and Emily Levesque

Picture
Lisa and her daughters, Gabby and Emily, have been faithfully doing tuck in at the Shelter on Friday nights since we moved into our present space in 2009. Gabby is now a junior at St. Johnsbury Academy and Emily is at the University of Vermont, headed towards being a teacher.  So, both girls were quite young when they began.
Lisa wanted the girls to be involved in giving back. And since they all love cats and kittens, it was the perfect place to volunteer. One of the girls used to get right into the condos and hang out with the cats. Wouldn’t that be a cute picture!! All three love to interact with the kitties and want to give lots of love to beings that may not have had much love in their previous lives. Lisa is especially fond of Rio and is so wanting for her to have a good and understanding home.
Rio is a special case, for sure.

As Lisa looks back on her time with the Shelter, she especially remembers Goliath with great fondness. He was a big beautiful, mellow, friendly tabby and white boy who passed away while in the shelter from Lymphoma. Many volunteers came to pay their respects before he passed away.

If Lisa didn’t have enough cats of her own, she would love to give Cinco his own special place. He is such a mellow, quiet, unassuming boy of 13 years who spent 12 of those years on the streets of St. Johnsbury.  Lisa and the girls love tuck in because it is the end of the day, very quiet, with lots of opportunity to interact.

We are so grateful to Lisa and Emily and Gabby. They are totally dependable every Friday
night. And because they live right near the Shelter, they could come down in an emergency to
tend...if someone couldn’t make it or if the weather was particularly harsh. They are a real gift
to Kingdom Animal Shelter.
