Our Dear Zola
Zola was a beautiful dilute calico girl who came back to KAS in June after a number of years with her adopting family. What a gentle girl! She loved to be petted and would purr so loudly you could hear her across the castle room. Poor Zola always had some health issues, from the moment we got her. She had a bit of arthritis. Her kidneys weren't quite up to snuff. And she was on medication for hyperthyroid. Out of the blue several weeks ago, she began to fail...having trouble moving, very dilated pupils. We were very afraid we would lose her. With the expert help of Littleton Emergency Veterinary Services and Western Avenue Veterinary Clinic, she slowly began to come back to us. It seems she has had a stroke, and so her left side doesn’t quite work well. She can have a bit of trouble walking...and eating. But we are so grateful to Christine and Tracy McIntyre for agreeing to foster her. She is loving being in their home...walking better and better, loving to sit and look out onto the deck, and now even able to jump up into their bed for a good night’s sleep. Apparently, she follows Christine around everywhere. And, she is even beginning to play with toys! Thank you, Tracy and Christine. It is so wonderful to know she is in a home where she is loved and cared for.
A Little Bit About Zola:
Hi, I'm Zola! I'm about 6 years old. I am a friendly girl who loves people and attention. I enjoy being petted and held. I am sweet and enjoy being on laps. When I'm really content I have a loud purr. I've been around dogs before and reportedly like older dogs, but not dogs with a lot of energy. Zola came to us as hyperthyroid and gets two pills a day for this, which she happily eats up if they are in a pill pocket. We also think she has arthritis and so she gets Glycoflex level 3 twice a day, which she eats with gusto. We notice she is walking more easily now. Upon doing blood work on Zola, we have discovered that she has just the slightest beginnings of kidney issues. This is a girl who has a number of things stacked against her. And yet, she is the most affectionate, sweet girl one can imagine...and deserves a peaceful, safe home, filled with love. Zola should be in a quiet home where there are no other pets nor any children, where she can be doted on and cherished.
